Farmers Toolshed, is a locally owned LLC business in Eastern Iowa, based at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm. We offer local farmers access to specialized or rarely used equipment at fair rental rates. The Toolshed was designed for local small farm businesses using specialized crop and livestock equipment. 

Farmer Toolshed was developed by local non-profit Iowa Valley RC&D in 2023 to support area farmers by providing access to equipment that isn’t needed everyday, unaffordable and/or to allow farmers to try out a piece of equipment before purchasing their own. 

As a LLC other farmers can become owners of the business along with Iowa Valley RC&D by purchasing shares or contributing equipment at fair market prices. Owner members help guide and direct the business as voting members.

Much of the equipment inventory of Farmers Toolshed was contributed by Iowa Valley RC&D and funded through a Food and Farm Grant from Johnson County.
